I used to feel that way till ir ecently watched it again. The opening rescue sequence is just too long and dull. Then much of the ewok scenes are too long before the battle. I love the ewoks (true) but it just goes on too long.

Im not sure where TFA will hold up but off the bat its 3rd best.

Whaaaat? I love everything about that Tattooine rescue. It's some of my favorite SW material (not counting the song in the special edition, of course). And I don't think the Ewok stuff is too long either. I don't see any significant difference in the pacing between this and the other films. The Dagobah stuff is also quite long in ESB.

The great thing about today's breakneck pacing and cheap storytelling shortcuts is that we don't have to spend so much time crafting a story in between our action sequences.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the single most important thing I wish all contemporary blockbuster filmmakers would learn is this: slow down. I think skillful pacing, especially in blockbusters, is almost inherently pleasurable.

You know...i thought the same...and the first view of TFA surely suffered from that.

Yesterday, i dont know..the pace seemed ok. The storytelling seemed fine.

Only problem I have with the whole film was the part on Hans freighter with the two gangs. It added nothing to the tale.

I think it kind of gave you a sense as to what Han has been doing since going back to his old ways.

Been avoiding this place until I saw the movie, just got out. It was pretty good. Not sure where I'd rank it right now, or how it'll hold up over time, but overall it was enjoyable. I'm glad it didn't have the sterile, ultra sleek, non-SW feeling the prequels had.

I'm fairly confident it's gonna hold up. I was nervous too but I've seen it five times and just wanna keep watching it.

Depending on what happens next we can look forward to this bein a great trilogy.


Although, nobody seems to think the director for the last one has any right to be there. Everyone is saying its a really bad idea to hire him.

I wish they wouldn't have killed off Han. I guess it made Ben's journey to the dark side complete though.
