Dont get me wrong here, im not arguing your point, and i figure that if they are gonna do something like that then just cancel it all together.

So, between 10 PM and 8 PM? Well people are less drunk at 8pm and making fewer bad choices and screaming in people's faces less?

I truly believe that governments/people are just trying to minimize the best they can and keep businesses open.

The science says that bars shouldn't be open at all, but no one will stand for that. They're picking and choosing what might have the worst impact. There's no hour by hour science. There's only science that says drunk people take off their masks and spew droplets into each other's faces. How would YOU address that? Do you have a better solution given that limited data?

but i guess politicians also have to think about their tax base (sales tax receipts) so some shit has to stay open

Maybe give bars and restaurants ore than 24 hours notice. Prior to them booking 8pm sittings. Prior to people making plans. This will only result in more people doing home get togethers with more people. December 31, 2020 has been on the calendar for a long time, it is not a surprise. Our numbers are drastically down, the call and timing lack all scientific backing.
I know for me, the people we were heading out with, who in the bar had to sit at a separate table all night are now coming over. We will be outside but we’re old and somewhat responsible. I know the people at my local bar, this is devastating for them,. They ordered food that will need to be thrown out. Can’t imagine what it is for restaurants.

If this is the right thing to do, that bars should not be open then (politicians) have the balls to close them. Don’t fuck over small businesses because you lack spine.
