Something tells me that's a lot of days of Mr. Vedder's life

FWIW - switching back and forth between the DM (song) on my Spotify and the one in this leak just does not sound as good to my ears. im sure there is a touch of confirmation bias there, but there's some reality as well. maybe a small difference, but meaningful.

okay, Something Special isn't so bad.
I like the backing vocals, and the little chit-chat going on before they kick it off.

I'm surprised how un-terrible Ed sounds most of the time. I may end up enjoying a lot of these songs way more than I expected to.

also - let's hand it to ed. this from a 60 yr old life long smoker rock star.
I think he's simply fantastic on this record.

I really like the vocal melody in the chorus of Something Special. The best pop songs have 2-3 catchy hooks and this one delivers (even if the lyrics aren't your bag).

Did the Ten Club really just email me to let me know that I have the privilege of downloading a digital version of 1 song (Running) after I spent $80 on the vinyl, CD and shipping?!

I just got an email from 10C saying "Your download is ready", got excited that maybe they're hooking people up who are waiting for physical copies, then open the email and its just for a download of Running.

told you so! they really did knock this one out the park; even Something Special works, and has a melancholy feel given that broken relationships are all over this thing
maybe "don't react, respond" is Ed / the speaker telling himself to stay calm during a fight with a loved one

I agree with this....maybe it was the super low expectations but i was pleasantly surprised by this one. It will never be a favorite on this album but im not its something i'd skip either.

There must have been a lot of thought put into making sure they played the songs in the right key, where he was in that perfect sweet spot allowing his voice to take off.
He sounds amazing, and it really is unbelievable in some ways.

Upper Hand is least immediate song so far. I like it but it's not grabbing me by the throat like the others. That does not need to be a bad thing

why they fuck didn't they make Upper Hand a single? dark matter and running are definitely the 2 worst songs probably

I thought the same thing about react / respond. I assumed political at first but over time it started to (like many songs on this album) seem like a broken and contentious relationship possibly. And it made me wonder if Running was political or again about a broken relationship instead…

I know, right. Maybe they're having technical problems and/or overwhelmed.
