Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

My wife had a similar problem with it -- she felt like the lesbian characters were fake. But then she hasn't had a lot of experience with lesbians, just a few select friends.

On the other hand, I know about a million lesbians, and I thought those two characters were fantastic and totally real -- like, they reminded me of a few middle-aged lesbians in particular.

I don't remember the first 5 minutes of the movie very well, but I remember that my overall impression was that it was well made and had a lot of heart and humanity. But I haven't seen it since it was in theaters so I'm struggling to provide any specific details. Though, I do think I liked the movie more as it went along. I have the impression, now that we're talking about it, that I was worried I wasn't going to like it toward the beginning and it won me over. But again, it's fuzzy. I just remember liking it overall.

Oh, i watched goodnight mommy and was hugely disappointed. I think it was a good movie overall, but this was sold as one of the most frightening movies ever and boy did that fall flat.
