TOTD is one of the best albums in the combined Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Cornell/Vedder universe. Say Hello 2 Heaven is the star song of that album. It is The Tribute to Andy Wood from Chris (his close friend and flatmate) with the help of Stone (Andy's best friend) and Jeff (friend and bandmate). It's really not strange.durdencommatyler wrote:This isn't difficult. This is stupid. It's obviously State of Love and Trust. How does that other song have one, let alone SIX goddamn votes?
I don't even know what to say to this. It's easily up there with Ten and Badmotorfinger from the same year.LoathedVermin72 wrote:TOTD is a shitty album that I think I've listened to from beginning to end MAYBE three times
Yep. I'm not comfortable calling it "shitty" --- maybe underwhelming or blah. Either way, it certainly isn't all that interesting. It's fine for what it is. But it has next to no staying power. It's overlong and I never feel like listening to it. Like you, LV, I've probably heard it front to back like twice, three times at the most. All of these musicians made much, MUCH more interesting music elsewhere.LoathedVermin72 wrote:TOTD is a shitty album that I think I've listened to from beginning to end MAYBE three times

This all sounds right. The problem with that record is Terry Date's production, but the music is righteous. It's tough for me to put myself in the mind set of a serious rock fan in 1991 (I was only 11), but I have to imagine that despite the de rigeur production, most listeners would have recognized this was a new era for rock music.Anders wrote:Badmotorfinger is very loved among Soundgarden fans, and highly respected elsewhere. It's rated as the 20th best album of 1991 on rateyourmusic. I recently read an article from a Seattle insider. He wrote that when Soundgarden performed the first shows after making the record, that's when everyone realized that the scene had entered a new era.
You sounded surprised by the six votes. I read that as the six votes was strange to you. I'm sorry, English is not my first language.durdencommatyler wrote:I never said it was strange.Anders wrote:TOTD is one of the best albums in the combined Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Cornell/Vedder universe.
