So a lot of you know I don't hold this song as high on a pedestal as most of you do. But I was listening to the studio version just now and I think my problem is that it doesn't translate well live for me. I really enjoy the studio version, but every show I've gotten it at or every boot I hear it on just doesn't sound great.

it's an excellent song that always felt slightly neutered to me, especially given the standard set by the anthems on the previous records.

Good tune, man. On most days, I think it's the best they've ever done.

Five stars. Top ten song. Right there with the elite of the elite. All of the layered vocals that build and build in the bridge before suddenly stopping when the the song shifts gears back into the verse and Ed goes into "I remember when..." makes for one of the most perfectly magical moments in the entire Pearl Jam catalog.

What are some things you do toss?
Frisbees, salads, footballs, baseb... Lots of balls, a few beers back, and a few other things I can't think of.

Do you toss a frisbee, or just throw it? I think it's okay. I'm leaving it.

I remember struggling to get my head around No Code when it came out. This was the song that kicked in the door for me. I find the albums you have to work at a bit at first always end up being favorites.
Why are you putting so much emphasis on the "h"?

if i made a mount rushmore of pearl jam songs, this would def be on it. between this, porch and yellow ledbetter, i cant pick a favorite. they all highlight a different area of pearl jam i love, so i guess there's no need to pick a favorite.

Mount Rushmore of _______ is a cliched topic but a fun one to think about. And yeah, this one would be a candidate for mine too.
