I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

This has like a novel-of-manners sort of feel, sort of like late-19th century, thinking Henry James or Edith Wharton.

I think it's already clear that it's going to fit into his career-long focus on con-men, which I'm totally on board with.

And I actually think that his work is extremely literary, and that Inherent Vice may be the least so of his movies.

I love him, but for some reason after seeing that preview, it makes me think he was probably so insufferable while filming this movie...

PTA is a GOD
DDL is a GOD
This looks like his take on a Merchant Ivory movie or something.

When do these December limited releases usually open up a bit wider? Mid-January? Only showings are at 7:00PM at a theater in Boston, and I want to get something closer to home.
