I like the Wanton song, which was a nice rediscovery, but Going to California is LZ's most beautiful song.


And the debt that GTF owes this song is blindingly obvious (not that this is a problem)

GtC is great and takes this one.

Wanton Song.

This is very tough.

"Wanton Song" is a nice rocking groove but these songs like "That's the Way" and the even better "Going to California" tap into something very pastoral and very nostalgic for me that I can't quite put my finger on -- they have this seemingly dual mournful and hopeful spirit to them that really hits the spot for me, and again I think this middle register is a much sweeter zone for Plant than the caterwaul is. Easy vote for "GTC."

Wanton Song is very good but they did this exact type of song better many many times.

Going to California rises above.

Goddammit. I love Wanton Song. But I love GTC, too.

Going with WS for no other reason than Plant/Page opened with it when I saw them.

GTC is no slouch, but I don't think TWS gets credit for how sonically and structurally dynamic it is. Beautifully produced. It gets my vote.

Someone on RM pointed out how RATM's Vietnow is an obvious ripoff of The Wanton Song, and I can never unhear that.
