Stairway is one of those legendary songs that really deserves all the accolades it gets, and more. The layered build on this thing is incredible.

Despite its baggage as the quintessential lighter-waving, deep-thoughts-via-stoned-teenagers, forbidden-to-cover ultimate FM radio rock cliche, "Stairway to Heaven" still amazes me every time I listen to it. The whole song feels like a revelation slowly unfolding, a spiritual journey that ends never with concrete answers but with the continued reassurance in the value of the quest ("Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know/Your stairway lies on the whispering wind";"if you listen very hard/the tune will come to you at last"). The last minute and a half or so always gives me a chill -- high hard-rock drama at its absolutely finest.

Stairway is shockingly good.

Black Country Woman.

I don't reach for it anymore but that's gonna change - Stairway is actually underrated at this point.

If the question was "what song would you rather listen to?" then, I'd probably choose BCW 9 out of 10 times. But, I'm not foolish enough to think its the better song. Not even remotely close.

Also, Black Country Woman is a pretty good song, too bad it's going against what some (all local classic rock radio stations) consider the best classic rock song of all time.

You could probably choose one of about ten different songs, but you wouldn't be wrong if you picked Stairway.

Stairway’s place on the throne of classic rock is actually well deserved. I’ve amazingly never grown tired of hearing it. And that’s mostly because it’s a damn perfect song.

Even tho the opening chord progressions were lifted from that Spirit song, I don’t care. I still fucking love Stairway.

STH has never been a personal favorite. BCW always has.

I knew I could count on RM for a second BCW vote! Take that stip!

I mean, I wanted to vote against Stairway but this competition just isn’t enough to validate that here.

Stairway and Ramble On have to be the most overplayed Zeppelin songs.

Wow, this one's actually a hard choice. I've just discovered BCW and like it a lot; Stairway has never been a favourite but I just listened to it and it's pretty great...
