Someone brought up RM's exclusive on the 2013 "Seven Song Leak" in the Gigatron Gigaton thread. I've decided to go ahead and make the Mod Forum discussion public, even though it's stupidly embarrassing. Here it starts with me complaining that I had to plan with stip and chud via e-mail instead of within the forum.

I want the ability to create a private thread that only chosen people can read and participate in. Somebody make this happen.

From what I'm reading, it isn't something that does happen. Why are you interested in this?

It would have to be something similar to this, a private forum to house the private threads, and anyone with permissions for the forum can see any thread contained within.

Stip and Peter and I were planning something for the main page. It just would have been nice to discuss it in a thread rather than e-mail. No biggie.

the debate is between whether or not we just do one big post on the day (mid march) that marks the longest time between records, or if we try to drag it out as an april fool's joke. B thinks (probably correctly) that it will never work if we drag it out and we're best off putting all our eggs in one basket. I'd kinda like to try to drag it out though

we would fake an album name, tracklisting (from anonymous sources). We'd probably write up something that sounds like a leaked e-mail about the album. If we drag it out over time it will eventually leak the way S/T did and some of us (but not all) will have gotten a copy. I'll write a fake review of it, etc.

For the record, I have no problems dragging it out, but if we do, we shouldn't try to pretend that it's real. Just a fun way thing to do while we wait longer for this album than any other album before.

A day or 2 before April Fools will make people less suspicious than doing in on April 1st itself

agreed, that's why I think starting it when B first suggested is even better. April 1st should be the reveal. Or April 2nd, if this has gone well and people are waiting for the 2nd to see if it is a fake.

B, why not pretend it is real? Even if many people believe we're full of shit, if even a few people believe it this would be a success--and if we keep insisiting at least some people will wonder, in their heart of hearts.


I think B, GH, myself, and Angi should have heard the super secret leaked version (three of these people have connections that make this plausible, and if I'm going to review it I will have needed to have heard it). Anyone else? I am going to refuse to leak it to other people. My hope is that some mods wanting to hear it makes this more believable, and makes it easier to keep song descriptions straight, etc. But that suggested list is just a suggestion, and we can come up with plausible reasons why others (Mecca?) have heard the album.

I originally thought this up as a post for 3/11 which is the day that the wait between albums officially become longer than the wait btw RA and PJ.

So when this stuff starts, are you guys wanting some of us publicly asking you guys for it? If you are wanting any of us that aren't supposed to be in on it to help, give ideas for what you need

oh, ideas are helpful. And I'm not sure Doc. I'd say play it like you would have played it if this was a leak of Backspacer or S/T. Maybe you are zen about wanting to wait. Maybe you're anxious about it. Maybe you're trying not to learn much.
