I really like "Abraham" from "Seven Swans," probably the only Sufjan album that continues to improve with age for me.

From "Illinois" I really like "The Man From Metropolis Steals Our Hearts."

The new one might be just your thing then. It's nearest in style to Seven Swans but more melancholic and atmospheric.

I like the "state" albums, but back when they were new I had a lot more enthusiasm for their conceptual components and respective "lesser" tracks, where now I find myself skipping through a lot of the interludes and fluff to get to the better tracks.

No fluff at all on his new albums, just eleven gorgeous tracks. It's also his shortest album yet. (Still 43 minutes long)
