Jollibee: And then fast food turned itself inside out

I love this place so much. American fast food interpreted by a Filipino corporation which grew across the Pacific and eventually made it's way to US soil. The American stuff on the menu is like a copy of a copy of fast food, and the Filipino stuff like halo halo and palabok are pretty craveable on their own. The burgers have pineapple on them and are probably the closest think IRL you can get to a Big Kahuna Burger. They have a goofy mascot and everyone who works there wears these super retro 70s striped uniforms. Friendliest staff I've ever seen, too.

Anyone outside of me and probably Doug have access to Jolibee?

I'm not a big Fast Food guy. I've never had Jolibee and it doesn't look like my bag.

It's an experience beyond the food stepping in to one of these things.

And as much as I'm not a "fast food guy" I'd still give it a try if I wondered past one. Just for the experience.

I'm surprise we don't have one in the PHX area. We have a huge Filipino community.

Heh. The restaurant. I used to work with a Filipino. His father had been one of the regional governors and was murdered by a rival political faction. His mom ended up taking over as governor and he brought his wife and kids to the US. He used to bring in a candy his wife would make that was not unlike caramel and it was one of the best things I’ve ever had.
