Anyone have their ancestry mapped via DNA? I got an ancestry.com kit for Christmas. Turns out, I'm the whitest white mother fucker there ever was. I don't even have any Genghis Khan DNA.

Please use 23andMe.
Ancestry will use your info to baptist all your dead relatives into the Mormon Church.

I don't know what that means, but my relatives can figure out God for themselves.

Don't all these companies own your DNA info afterwards? No thanks.

I didn't learn a lot. Ancestry.com just told me that my family came from those Europe circles to those U.S. circles in the 1700s. We have family records that already told us that.
Here is me and my kids at the grave of our oldest, American ancestor.

Shit. Does that mean I can't have any more kids?

Ancestry is owned by members of LDS church.
Mormons have used their access to large genealogical databases to perform "baptisms of the dead," including Holocaust victims.

Yeah and can't they sell it to health insurance companies?

What do they do? Take a piece of paper with a DNA profile on it and dip it in a pool? I'm pretty sure there is no God, and if there is, I'm sure he's not tricked by such chicanery. He'll send all the Holocaust victims to hell, regardless of what the LDS church thinks.

Their make pretend gives believers their own planet!

If I ever run for public office, I'm going to instruct Sarge to burn this forum to the ground.

Turns out that I'm NOT the whitest white mother fucker. My kid's kit came in too. He got a heavy dose of my wife's Irish and Scandinavian roots.

Especially after reading the Vice article about how companies already use big data to influence our behaviour, I would never give my DNA to one of these companies. I think the owner of 23andme is the wife of one of the owners of google?
I was just reading an article that said "existing bio-banks already seek to link their data with records of criminal convictions, earnings and emplyment data".

374 posts. You probably know more about me than my "partner":
The strength of their modeling was illustrated by how well it could predict a subject's answers. Kosinski continued to work on the models incessantly: before long, he was able to evaluate a person better than the average work colleague, merely on the basis of ten Facebook "likes." Seventy "likes" were enough to outdo what a person's friends knew, 150 what their parents knew, and 300 "likes" what their partner knew.
(from that Vice article)
