All you RM Sox fans seem like good guys, so I genuinely hope the Red Sox sweep the Yankees this week so that your team will still be at .500 after the weekend. :)

if yankee fans or philly fans weren't as obnoxious, rude and passionate like boston fans, the rivalries would mean nothing. so keep being assholes because it's not fun beating a gracious loser.

I'm not sure who this is aimed at, but I'm a Jays fan.

It's early, but I've already pretty much completely changed my opinion of this team. I think they have alot better chance of making the playoffs than I did when spring training started. I wanted so badly to hate Farrell and criticize his moves, but he's pushing all the right buttons so far and looks like the perfect fit.

So it sounds like I have a reason to pay attention this year....

There's still plenty of time . I think Boston is a much better team than a lot of people give them credit for. There are still plenty of question marks, but the AL East is loaded with questions. At the very least, they're a whole hell of a lot better than last year's record would indicate.

wikipedia wrote:On September 8, 2008, the Red Sox set a Major League record with their 456th consecutive home-park sellout. The previous record had been held by the Cleveland Indians, who sold out 455 games between June 12, 1995 and April 2, 2001. The streak began on May 15, 2003 against the Texas Rangers. The Red Sox are only the fourth team to sell out every home game of an entire season (the 1996 Colorado Rockies and the 2000 San Francisco Giants being the other two).[89] (The team's definition of a sellout: "The criteria used for a sellout at Fenway Park have been the same since the early 1990s", Kennedy said in an e-mail. "Our policy is simple and straightforward, and is used by many MLB clubs [and other sports teams around the country]. A sellout occurs when the number of tickets distributed to spectators is equal to or greater than the seating capacity at Fenway Park. [The 2008 seating capacity is 36,984 for day games and 37,400 for night games.]"[90] That is: a sellout only covers ticket sales, not spectators in physical seats.)

Well if that's the criteria that doesn't count, then most teams in all sports don't sell out.

sure, but the Sox FO was advertising and promoting this streak while the stadium was noticeably empty during games last year. it's not an accomplishment to sell all available tickets.

last year they kept going on and on about the sell out streak when fenway was half full, it was absurd

Was I the only one hoping they'd call up Webster to take Lackey's place?
