probably won't see Oblivion because the plot is pretty obvious...oh, and just a lot of Tom Cruise running around.
can't wait for this Elysium. looking forward to this more than any other movie this summer.

Yes, loved it. Duncan Jones was my pick for director of the new Star Wars movie.Harry Lime wrote:turned2black wrote:I'm starting to hate sci-fi.

Re: Movie: Elysium (Matt Damon)
Those are two very different movies. Moon was more classic sci-fi (I think of original Solaris or the first 2/3 of Sunshine) while D9 was more like standard big-chase action fare with shallow social commentary and sci-fi elements (done better in Children of Men). I enjoyed Moon much more than D9.red calzolaio wrote:love that movie. and District 9.Harry Lime wrote:turned2black wrote:I'm starting to hate sci-fi.

This was ok. Kept my interest. The lead guy from District 9 doesn't play a very good "badass" character though.

Re: Movie: Elysium (Matt Damon)
never before have I accidentally blurted out "oh fuck you" in a movie. That is until I saw the last few minutes of Elysium. The utterly unimaginable suspension of disbelief required for that last act... it can't be done. Just bizarre plothole after contrivance after plothole. holy fucking shit.
Well the first 2/3rds or so was pretty good.

Re: Movie: Elysium (Matt Damon)
I was not impressed.
The political commentary was very heavy handed. Mind you i lean towards agreeing with it and i did not care for it. I thought some of the plot was not buit enough. some of the action was good though.
Overall a C movie.
District 9 was so good. I read a review that said:
“Elysium had almost four times the budget of District 9, and only a small fraction of the imagination.”
I tend to agree with this.

Re: Movie: Elysium (Matt Damon)
I saw it not bad, but a step back from D9, I feel this guy is going to be a great director one day. I feel he is the one that should have got the nod for the new star wars movies. Copley was great as the villian, just awesome.
