U2 has been trying to write these sorts of grittier barroom songs for the last few albums, and they're rarely successful - Bono doesn't have the voice for it. Stand Up Comedy is one of those unsuccessful attempts
Just heard Landlady for the first time. Pretty decent talky U2 ballad. Not an instant classic, but like Red Flag Day I wouldn't mind hearing this one again (this was better). Gets my vote.

This was my first time listening to Landlady. I haven’t heard anything from Songs of Experience yet. I liked it quite a bit. Not as much as 90s U2, but it was a solid modern U2 song. Better than I was expecting. Stand Up Comedy has some cool moments and elements, but I don’t love the final product. I probably should give both of these a few more listens but I’m voting Landlady.

I'm a big fan of both of these. I think I might like latter-day U2 more than their earlier stuff.
Vote for "Landlady"

I’ve listened to Landlady like six times in a row now. I’m really digging this song now. The whole thing is excellent, but that last 1:15 is fucking niiicccceeee.
