One thing I've learned from SciFi TV is the future will only take place in Canada.

Looks like they tried to blend imagery familiar to Battlestar Galactica and Firefly. If it learned the lessons of those shows, it has a chance.

Basically, either the characters will be extremely well drawn or it will be awful.

Now there's a sci fi fan. Good post. I'm going to have to catch the 1st episode on Hulu.

:?
I really liked the first 40 minutes or so, but then they got in the town and ....well it felt like a SyFy show :( I watched Eureka and enjoyed it because it was turn your brain off eposodic sci fi. I don't want a show like Defiance to remind me of Eureka.

Some dude who just walks into town all of a sudden is their sherrif. His orphaned daughter and the sherrif's old tag along have similar past events connecting them? the whole teenage love thing and wow they got engaged quick?!

Not a ton of orginality a lot of characters and situations reminded me of either babalon 5, firefly, or some other sci fi show that has already been done.

I'll keep watching to see if it can turn it around, but they are going to have to do better than the pilot.

I caught it with my dad last night. It wasn't boring. I think that's the best compliment I can give. I was kind of ambivalent.

STL looks nicer after being destroyed by aliens than it does now.
