Sometimes I just forget how great this band is...

but they played a new song at coachella:

I still think that 'the lonesome crowded west' is a masterpiece...but they really need te release a record now...their last one was 6 years ago....

You know there isn't to many bands that can lay claim to having two absolutely flawless and unbelievably perfect songs.

This band can.

Edit the sad parts
Little motel.

And yes they need to release something, they also need to reissue their back catalogue on wax. They were in the works, but I've heard nothing for a couple of years.

This band has not aged well for me at all. Isaac Brock's singing style annoys the hell out of me.

Ditto. I used to love them and now I only love some songs.

Still a big fan of this band since stumbling onto them in college in the 90s. There's no way to continue what they achieved with their first 3 records, and it's been an interesting shift with lineup changes, styles and influences as they mature. Interested to see what the new album sounds like since it's been almost twice as long as PJ's last record :gomez:

probably my favorite MM show:

New Orleans 2000

Styrofoam Boots / It's All Nice on Ice, Alright
3rd Planet
Never Ending Math Equation
Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In (Positive Negative)
What People Are Made Of
Trailer Trash
Breakthrough
Perfect Disguise
Paper Thin Walls
Doin' the Cockroach
Polar Opposites
Life Like Weeds
Dramamine
Out of Gas
Tiny Cities Made of Ashes
Cowboy Dan

Encore:
Wild Packs of Family Dogs
Lives

Hung out with the band before the show. Walked by the venue at like 3pm and they were unloading their gear from their van out front. Helped Isaac carry a couple of amps to the stage. He gave me a beer in return.

The Shins opened for them, but it was back when they were called Flake Music, not "The Shins". I remember them playing "New Slang", which apparently had just been written, and thinking "My god that's a song needs to be heard"

His ballad voice is a lot more appealing, IMO.

Missed The Boat, for instance.

That being said, Float On is just a great song. Who could not like that song?

"Float On" is a great single, I'll definitely give you that.

"The Moon and Antarctica" was a big album for me when I was branching out away from radio rock. There are good songs on it, I just don't get anything out of listening to it anymore. Isaac seems to be singing the same melody over and over again, and that bratty delinquent slur just doesn't appeal to me at this point in my life. But it led me to greater things, and for that I'll forever be grateful. I lost track of them after the "Good News" album.

The one right after Good News was pretty flat. Some nice singles, but the album felt like a rehash to me. Probably the one I turn too least often, save for the couple three or four songs that I really love.
