3 Doors Down - "Kryptonite"


Hoobastank - "Crawling in the Dark"

I've seen both of these bands live -- Hoobastank somewhat inadvertently as they were opening for Incubus on the "Morning View" tour, but 3 Doors Down I made the choice to see when they played the Peoria fair in 2000. Hoobastank stunk -- never liked their songs, thought they sucked live. But I liked that 3DD album for a while, and "Kryptonite" was deservedly popular -- a relic of its time now, but catchy, and with more swing than post-grunge was typically poised to muster.

Kryptonite does indeed sound dated, like a short lived bubblegum pop song. I bought the album and had the song on mp3 (wherever that was needed) back then. While I probably haven't even heard it in the past decade, I still got tired/bored while listening to it now. Crawling In The Dark however, is still in some sort of rotation on my pc/phone. Easy vote for CITD here.

"Crawling in the Dark" is one of the more half-assed attempts at this style. "Kryptonite" has a cool chorus. "Kryptonite" it is.

I never cared for 3 Doors Down but they did have a pretty rocking cover of 'That Smell' I heard on the radio once that impressed me.

Man, "Kryptonite" got played to death back in those days. It's the better song by miles.

Kryptonite is far and away better, but consolation prize for Hoobostank for the "parents just don't understand" shot of the mom knocking on the door. That part of the video is hilarious.

I only know 3 Doors Down from that godawful military propaganda song that used to be played before movie previews. Fuck them.

Hoobastank sucks but this song must have been in a Madden game at some point. It reminds me of being younger and playing video games 18 hours a day. Vote goes to Hoobastank.

Yes basically this. Both songs suck, but at least Kryptonite is memorable. That Hoobastank plays like it was dreamed up in a Clear Channel board meeting.

I don’t have strong feelings about either of these. I loved 3 Doors Down when I was 12 so I guess I’ll vote for them

I fucking hate that 3DD song so goddamn much. I hated how it was constantly on the radio and impossible to avoid. Vote for the Hoobastank song because I didn’t remember it and that is actually a positive in this tournament.

Kryptonite is the shiiiit.

Crawling in the Dark was on Aggressive Inline, the most nu extreme sports game. That game was awesome.

Also, Crawling in the Dark is not Crawling in my Skin.
