An Arrow to the Knee: The Official Elder Scrolls Thread

Post by Simple Torture »

A thread for all things Elder Scrolls--past, present, and future.

Quick question for people who might know: is Skyrim on PS4 worth a buy if you've already logged 100+ ours on PS3? There's a deal on the PSN store where it'd basically be $10 this week.

Is the Special Edition version? If so, get it. I bought it at 25 and was still a great deal.

The mod support alone makes it worth it on the PS4, even though it's totally gimped on that system. The improved visuals are nice too. For $10 it's a no-brainer if you have the time to put into it.

I've never played it. I guess I should.

These games are excruciatingly boring to me. I think multiplayer gaming + Dark Souls has ruined games for me. Feels bad, man.

I liked Skyrim for a while and then lost interest. Just got really samey after a while. But I didn't regret buying it for cheap, I might revisit it sometime soon just to do the main campaign.

I made this initial post almost 3 years ago, and this past weekend was the first time I actually loaded up Skyrim on my PS4--just sort of bored and looking for a game that I can waste some hours in. The improvement in load time and frame rates makes this almost a completely different game; I remember my PS3 Slim choking along to get through nearly every scene and taking 3-5 minutes with every load screen. This version on PS4 is smooth as silk. Probably going to put in more time than I thought I would.

I never did finish Skyrim but I did my best to clear every dungeon on the map.

Bethesda finally posted an official teaser, just the number “IV” and the time 11:00am ET tomorrow (Tuesday).

Surprising no one, since everything was leaked, this dropped today. Tried to catch a little bit of the reveal when I was driving, and everything looks really cool, and according to the devs they've made a lot of savvy moves with what they've decided to keep from the original vs the changes they've made.

I tried to get into Oblivion once on the PS3 after playing Skyrim, and it didn't really grab me, so I probably only played a couple of hours of it. It seems like the remaster is more than just a fresh coat of paint, that the game may play faster and incorporate some modern mechanics, so I'll definitely give it a try.

I’m working through Oblivion Remastered now, and while there’s a lot I like about it, one thing I miss from Skyrim is how there’d be an alternate exit at the end of each dungeon. Having to backtrack after clearing a dungeon is pretty boring. In general I really like it, though, there seem to be fewer quests but I’m enjoying exploring as I follow the questlines.

Elder Scrolls Reddit is losing its mind this week, as a mysterious statue popped up in the desert as some sort of promotion connected to the Game Awards. They’ve been Zapruder-ing it looking for any clues that there will be some sort of announcement on the progress of Elder Scrolls VI during the Game Awards (December 11). Apparently it’s been made clear that this is not connected to a few other IPs (God of War, Diablo), but TES does seem like a stretch.

I don’t think we’re getting VI until 2028.
