Have had a chance to give this a couple listens. Every time I am more and more pleased.

Jumping out off the bat at this point are tracks 4, 6, and 8 - but there is a lot of great stuff going on everywhere.

Especially hyped on track 8 right now:

track 4 has resonated with me almost as much as track 8 as of late

at 3:12 there is a Philip Glass-like progression:

i have warmed up to Anthony Pirog

this was a little boring for me at first. felt a bit like the 'free jazz' band from spinal tap.

but there's actually a lot here to unpack

decent little interview

track 8
track 4
track 2

there is a fair amount of slower dark stuff on the album and it is good but i just want to rock

but looks like would all be much better to see live

No - I'm in Melbourne for work next week and hoping to catch their headline show at The Tote on the 29th (and which also explains why I can't make the second TMOC Adelaide show).

The headline show was advertised as a "no supports, Messthetics to play two sets" deal but unfortunately that wasn't what happened. Jumped straight in an UBER after a work dinner to get across the other side of Melbourne, hoping to catch the "second set" - but alas there wasn't one. Anyway, I still managed to catch a good 25-30 mins of their (one and only) set and it was fantastic.

shite sorry you missed a bunch. probably had more to do with miscommunication by the event staff than it did with the band pulling a fast one or something. but who knows

i really like the new album. sounds (avant-garde) jazzier than the first. some songs i zone out and think it's a Medeski, Martin, and Wood album. interesting to hear Joe Lally in that context. obviously super capable (of many styles i am sure).

Im enjoying their last album a lot these days.

I still feel most of this songs would benefit a lot with having a singer.
