hey, we'll cover a pop song everyone already knows, but play it faster and more sarcastically. you know, punk it up a little. Because we are real artists.

I don't think the Me First guys consider themselves "real artists" -- it's just 5 dudes from other bands who got together to fuck around

I thought the shitty, watery sound of that opening guitar to the SR-71 song was due to early-mp3 compression but no, that's really how it sounds!

I went to a Me First show earlier this year and had an absolute blast. They covered "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and brought the house down

I bet it sounded exactly like the above, but with different lyrics.

Both hideous songs, but I think plat is right and the first group is in on the joke (at least to some degree). That gets the vote.

I get it. It's fun to take old standards and freshen them up for a new audience, but there weren't too many songs that came out of that craze that were anything more than a novelty. Me First and the Gimme Gimme's were at least acutely aware of what they were doing and owned it. It's when a nobody band has a hit and launches a career off a cover song that I draw the line.

Vote goes to Fat Mike in a sweatervest.

Years ago I had a coworker who really liked Me First and the Gimme Gimme Gimmes, so I'll vote for their take on the kiddie pisser's song. I don't even know that other song.

Here they are playing the bar mitzvah of a 13 year old fan

Worth watching at least for their performance of "Hava Nagila" at 4:20, which interpolates the "Come Out and Play" riff

I hate Me First, while the bassist for SR-71 isn't even trying to hide how bored he is by his own band. I respect that level of not giving a fuck.

Is that SR-71 video an actual music video? If it is, its the laziest, cheapest music video I've ever seen.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes get old fast, but for a song or two at a time they're okay, and this SR-71 song is hideous. Their singer sounds like Vince Neil, and one Vince Neil is enough.

I want to say SR71 is ths pop punk band that started as a hair metal band in the 80’s, but I might be wrong.

If the singer’s name is Butch Walker, that’s who I’m thinking of.
