So dismayed and disenchanted there's no kickass thriving Liberty University music scene.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.

:haha: It's horrible here. The shows we usually want to go to are in Richmond, it's two hours away... Not easily doable during the middle of the week.

I'm going with Portland.

Obviously im biased but I am going to go with Minneapolis.

Dylan, The suburbs, replacements, prince, soul asylum and countless other post punk bands, brother ali..... Its always been a good scene with plenty of creative people and bands doing their own thing

This is a great article with pretty awesome stories about the artist/music scene in Minneapolis which basically centered around this infamous bar:

http://www.citypages.com/2013-05-01/new ... l-history/

Definitely a fun read if anyone is interested!

Memphis is fun. New Orleans and Austin are both great. One day I will go to Seattle and comment about it.

If there was a "Worst City for Music" thread, PHX would be high on the list.

Don't be ridiculous, clearly the best city for music has to be in the USA.

I'd say Brisbane. Just because so many bands from down there continue to burn holes in my ears.

But what exactly do you mean? Best place to live as musician or a city to see a wide variety of live music? I've heard great things about Berlin from people who play for a living. Supposedly those krauts love themselves some bluegrass.

But in terms of seeing bands and shit? New York obviously you dummies, everyone plays here.

Not sure about all the others people are listing, but when I lived in Portland I was amazed at the local music scene. A lot of great sounding local bands in some really great clubs.

London-ish would be my pick. All the fucking great British bands out of the London area, c'mon.

Followed closely by New York and Southern California-ish.
