Jimi Hendrix doesn’t get enough love on this board

I realize he’s been gone for like 50 years but the man deserves a thread here.
Jimi is currently my kids’ favorite music to listen to. I think that’s pretty damn cool.

I say Bammer and Jimi Hendrix are both underrated.

Bammer is the Electric Ladyland of RM...
...the British version.

Electric Ladyland is getting a 50th anniversary reissue with a bonus disc featuring tons of outtakes and demos, plus a newly found soundboard recording from 68.
There was a time that I really wish Pearl Jam would have attempted a cover of 1983. I no longer think PJ could pull it off. That song is so good on so many levels, and like Jimi, it does not get enough love anywhere.

I both understand this assessment and am baffled by it. The album is dense, adventurous and doesn't always work. But equally, it is dense, adventurous and has some groundbreaking successes that expanded what music can be. It is a favorite for late nights and solo hiking.

that's it exactly, it doesn't always work. AYE and BOG are both perfect; i'd say Axis is about 4/5 perfect. Lady land is maybe 40% of a great record, and there's just too much that i never care to hear again
That's fair enough. Though I rank Axis: Bold As Love higher than Band of Gypsys.
Sometimes music that changes music, especially when it's the use of production techniques don't age well.

Band of Gypsys
Electric Ladyland

Too bad it's only 90% finished. But I really really dig the 'First Day of the new Rising' record.
it could be my favorite...
That posthumous discography is such a mess.

Well, it was the album he was working on in 1969/1970.
Most songs were already done and mixed, but others still needed some dubs.
After his death in 1970 the record company decided to spread all these new songs over multiple posthumous releases.
Like 'Cry of Love', 'Rainbow Bridge' and 'War Heroes'. Most of the songs on these records were from those final sessions.
They kept releasing crappy records like this until the late eighties. One of which 'VoodooSoup' even had rerecorded drum tracks by some session drummer.
In the mid 90s the Hendrix family finally got control over the legacy. The first thing they did was to release 'First Day of the New Rising Sun'. This album is as close as possible to an official Hendrix record. They used the most complete tracks available, they even used a tracklist written by Jimi. For me this record is already his best, if completed and released properly it would have been a true classic album.

I still listen to those bands on a occasion but yeah pretty much this. The songs are still good and all but its certainly not the same.
