Any good articles or pieces you've read about games recently? The Ringer has been doing a series all year that looks at groundbreaking games that came out 20 years ago (1998). StarCraft, Banjo-Kazooie, Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon, Gran Turismo, Grim Fandango, and others. Worth a look: https://www.theringer.com/2018/8/29/177 ... ideo-games

Polygon is good about posting articles on video game topics. You can usually find some good stuff every week.

"Blood, Sweat, and Pixels: The Triumphant, Turbulent Stories Behind How Video Games Are Made" is a great book on the incredible amount of labor and grinding game companies require their employees to under go.

Console Wars was pretty good too.

Console Wars was the one I was going to recommend. For as much as I know about that period of gaming, I still found things in it that I didn't know. For example, there was a brief period of time where we almost got a Sega PlayStation but Sega of Japan couldn't be bothered to partner with Sony.

Sega of Japan come off as idiots throughout the book but that one takes the cake and throws it on the ground.

There's a great anecdote by Ad-Rock about a game I'd never heard of in the new Beastie Boys book. It's about a voice activated call-in game on WPIX. What a trip this must have been to watch live.

Anything by Jason Schreier at Bloomberg (formerly of Kotaku). His book from a couple years ago is great.

My parents want me to get all of my old video game magazines out of their basement. I hope I can sell them.

I have stacks of EGM, Nintendo Power and GamePro somewhere in my mom's attic.
