The Backlog ™ and The Graveyard ™

Post by ABNorman »

ITT: Discuss your gaming backlog - games you OWN but have yet to get around to playing. Also, discuss the games you own that you've dipped into but for whatever reason are sitting in your gaming graveyard.

Some of mine that I really want to get stuck into soon:

Red Dead Redemption 2 - My fiancee gave me a PS4 and this for Christmas, and I've still only played an hour or 2 because I'm waiting for a good chunk of time I can settle in.

A Hat In Time - Heard good things, and it's my best chance on the PC of getting a Mario platforming kick.

Cities: Skylines - I've dropped way too many hours on this but not yet "finished" a city.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Quite liked the previous two games, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one too - and got it for a steal.

haha, right?

Backlog
90% of the PS+ free games that i added to my list simply because they were free
Assassins Creed Odyssey - got for xmas, will probably play next once i finish my replay of RDR2
Shadow of War - bought during PSN holiday sale, will play soon
Uncharted Lost Legacy - bought during PSN holiday sale, will play soon
God of War III remastered - bought it with the intent on getting into the series before the latest game but i haven't found the time yet
Infamous First Light - meant to play and just never got around to it

Replay backlog:
Shadow of Mordor
Bloodborne - so much replay value
Red Dead 1 - because RDR2
Witcher 3

Graveyard:
Thief - started and played a few hours but i didn't find it engaging enough to continue.
The Order 1886 - nice looking game but ultimately boring and too linear. Got bored and gave up halfway through a reportedly 8 hour game
Farcry Primal - lost interest about 2/3 of the way through.

I don’t think I’ll ever finish Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

I got a Humble Bundle a coupla years ago that had something like 100 games, and they're still all sitting there forlornly.

I totally forgot I bought Shadow of War a few weeks ago.

I have a history of buying PS4 games on sale when I've had a few cocktails late at night.

Infamous: First Light is fun and you can bang it out in 4-6 hours if you have time some weekend. I remember it looking great too.

My backlog is too big and I know I won't finish them all but the ones I definitely want to finish:

Titanfall 2 - I've heard the single player is awesome. I bought it cheap and basically forgot I bought it.
Far Cry 5 - I cleared one of the three areas and never went back again so I'd like to get back in and finish.
All the Tomb Raiders on Next Gen - Started the first two and just never finished.
Mad Max - Eventually I will finish this game. I've put many hours into it.

Graveyard:
Fallout 4 - I sunk a lot of hours into this when I got my PS4 in like August; it was basically the only game I played for 1-2 months. Loved it (bye, haters), and was taking my sweet time and barely doing the main quest--then it broke. I was having such good luck with no buggy quests or corrupted saves, then something happened while working through one of the DLCs and bullets wouldn't hit enemies anymore (this is a big problem in a shooter). I loaded my most recent save and lost all of my progress in the DLC and some of my progress in the main story. Left a bad taste in my mouth and I haven't been back to it for a while. Would like to revisit, but not excited to do the same quests again.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - This was a PS+ game so it was free, which is nice. It looked interesting enough so I downloaded it...and I just don't think it's very fun. I do a couple of runs every few days still, but I will probably uninstall it soon.

Shadow of the Colossus - Sort of like BoI, this game sounds awesome and looks great, but I did not enjoy the couple of hours I put into it.

Backlog

Where to begin? I don't have my PS3 plugged in anymore, but I'd still love to play Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, Mass Effect 1-3, and the first two Dragon Age games (I have all of these purchased, mostly through PS+ or cheap sales). I've documented my PS4 list in other threads: HZD, Bloodbourne, Witcher 3, Last of Us, Grim Fandango...there are more.

I think the game industry is on the verge of a crash. Too many games in the backlog our available for cheap on steam.

Why do you think so many games are going to the "games as service" model? Microtransactions!

Yeah that's killing it, too. It's not a solution.

Sounds like fallout 76 and battlefield 5 were huge money losers.

For a couple of years now I only had the Xbox One without an extra harddrive. This autumn I upgraded to an Xbox One X with an external 3tb harddrive, and a Switch with a 128gb memory card. So now I've had plenty of room for games. It's been really easy to get free games, or buy really cheap games. There must be about 40 of them that will never get heavy playing time.

These games I've only played little bit, and don't know when I will get back to:

Titanfall 2, Moto Racer 4, Read Dead Redemption 1, Roblox, Mortal Kombat X, Game Of Thrones, Pro Evo 2019, Madden 18, NHL 18, Micro Machines, Warframe, Killer Instinct, Super Toy Cars, Dragon Age 2, Minecraft, Worms, Rayman Legends and several more. Could easily end up on the graveyard.

These games I really want to spend more time on:

Battlefield 4 and 5, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, Tekken 7, Dirt 4, Halo 5, Forza Horizon 4, Destiny 2, Star Wars Battlefront, NBA 2K19, Into The Breach, Hollow Knight. Sort of a backlog, but I've been more active these past months, and a few of these I haven't owned that long.

These I've played an adequate amount of time these past months:

RDR2, FIFA 19, Monster Hunter: World, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Battlefield 1, Fora Motosport 7, Celeste, Super Mario Kart
.

I'm playing The Witcher 2. Bought it in 2011 or 2012. Gonna try to finish it before moving to another game. I play mostly MP games, this might be kinda hard.
