So if your weekly game consisting of 20, 30, and 40-somethings occasionally includes a guy in his 70’s (bless his heart!), whoever he is guarding kinda takes that game off, right? Or do you go right at him?

I remember there used to be this 70 year old dude who shot granny style with a leathery basketball that had panels peeling off at the complex I played at. We didn't let him join our games if at all possible but if he did we just sagged off of him and didn't play defense. He just hung out on the perimeter. I suppose if he tried to drive I would have beasted him a few times until he got the point.

old people (ahem) and girls have to be treated the same way

if you go easy on them and they bust your ass you wont hear the end of it
if you go hard on them you wont hear the end of it

Said septuagenarian was on my team every time this weekend. Like 5 games. A couple times his matchup took quite a few shots and the rest of us are just like FUCK this. You gotta just take that game off. I mean it sucks almost equally for both teams but it’s worse being on his team.

Can’t win.

This particular guy never steps inside the 3 point line so it’s not so bad in that respect. It’s worse if you have to guard a girl.

If I'm stuck guarding a girl she is not scoring under any circumstances. I'll at least give an old guy space to shoot.

Is she built like Shawn Kemp on the Sonics or Shawn Kemp on the Magic?

I always enjoyed playing defense during pickup games if I knew I was with other guys who could score. Just completely erasing a guy from the game is pretty easy at the Y or wherever and seeing them die on the inside is fulfilling to me.

I played this woman when I was around 17. She was a semi pro player. She was all I could handle. Well she said she was semi pro. I don't even know what that means. It was the 90s.

I've always hated the term semi-pro for anything. And anyone I've ever met that said "i used to play semi-pro ball". You either got paid or your didn't.
