It is it well-known that the Tchad Blake mix of Insignificance is featured on some versions of the Nothing As It Seems single?
Until today, I'd just assumed it was the same as the LP version.
So, there you go.

I was unaware of that. Is the mix way different?

What was the demo name for "Insignificance"?
I remember hearing it once and it was very different from the final product.

Cool fact Spenno. Must dig out the cd single. Sure I have it somewhere.
Insignificance is always a treat live. There's a particular sound to those guitars. It's like they manage to capture the studio sound. Or something.

Gremmie has some binaural demos, insignificance sounds pretty much the same but less...spacey i think and its a little longer.

Yes, I think it's the same one - I didn't realise it had actually been officially released.
On that note, the Pearl Jam fan practice of deeming rough/alternate mixes "demos" is maddening.

I was about to post the same or similar post. The ST 'alt versions' are just alt mixes. Same with the vs ones from memory. Damn annoying. Terminology people.

I thought they didn't like blake's mixes because they thought they didn't sound 'pearl jam' enough or something? if anything this version sounds more 'pearl jam' to me, since it is less spacey or whatever. Or is that not to do with the mix?
I like whatevers going on with the education demo or whatever it is, ithe guitars have got a evil carnival vibe going on at the beginning.

I always love hearing it at a show, but it seems like they never really nail it live. Even on the 2000 boots, it comes across as missing something. Jones Beach 2 has an excellent version though.

The only difference between the 2 versions I've heard is when the vocals begin. The alt version has the vocals starting a bit later.

Really blows my mind. Its not a difficult concept to grasp. Gremmie has a huge write up on it trying to explain the differences; even having a write about it is ridiculou.
Yea, PJ fans.

I really think this song suffers live more than any other song in the catalog.

Suffers is too strong of an adjective because its generally still really good in concert. But, have they consistently captured that lightning in the bottle? No.
