I keep seeing "fair to middling" when review blurbs pop up but then reviewers always look at stuff critically instead of "is this fun".

Netflix.

it's a netflix series adapted from some dark horse comic I never heard of. Eccentric billionaire buys a bunch of orphans and raises them to be superheroes. They all grow up to be totally dysfunctional and are reunited by his death. The story starts there. It's mostly character drama - minimal powers stuff, and the powers are there to really drive character. Funny and occasionally moving and some really excellent performances.

It's weird hearing Nathan with an American accent in the trailer. Does he actually have one, or is it just the line choices for the trailer?

Watched the first two episodes last night. Man. I want to download the books and read it but I think I need to see the story play out this way first.

edit: wait a minute. I keep reading reviews of the first book (since I watched the first episode) and they keep saying "steam punk". God dammit.

I'm enjoying this show, but it telegraphs its punches a bit too much.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. I'm not a fan of the genre.

I'm enjoying this despite my strong dislike of Ellen Page

She looks older than just about everyone else on the show.

some of that is by design, I think. that may be become clearer as you move through (I'll say more when you finish)

I liked the ending. They tied that up together nicely and left me wanting Season 2.

The further I get through this the more I dislike Ellen Page

I believe that's the intention of the writers.
