Only these tracks are listed on the Record Store Day site (so it's just the previously-released EP, not the full show): 1/2 Full, Lukin, American In Me, Save You, Bleed For Me, The New World, Porch

If it’s not the full show, lame.

There's a copy of the original CD in my car's glove compartment right now. Not sure I need this again. Good show though.

Songs have only been left off the Vault releases because of legitimate technical reasons though and that’s presumably not the case here.

Wait, do we really believe that?

Which part?
If you mean the reasons for the missing Vault audio, then absolutely. It actually drives me a bit nuts when I see criticism of missing tracks from the band’s archival releases; criticise them for stuff they can help (I sure do) but don’t for stuff they genuinely can’t. I’m grateful they’re finally releasing those shows, even if a lot more gradually than I’d prefer.
Anyway, this release is a bit of a missed opportunity. Oh well.

Because the explanations are inherently plausible?
They weren’t recording (as they would from 2000 onwards) with the intention of those shows being released, so there wasn’t the same attention paid to ensuring the recordings were complete, which due to the technology of the time would have involved carefully-planned tape swapping, etc.

All this crap was explained in Deep magazine, Durds.
They couldn't record full concerts until 2000 because they didn't have a staggered pro-recording system available. So there are gaps in the recordings.
I don't know the reason for the Chicago 1995 encore being unavailable, but it clearly isn't because they released that part from the bootleg. I would imagine that if they were witholding it, they wouldn't have released it at all.

Thanks WCT.

It also wouldn't have been too difficult to research yourself, but hey

Wow. Okay. Got it.
This is the internet though. And every jack wagon spouts off about anything they like as if they know the answer and no one ever provides any evidence or support. I've long heard people talk about this issue but I've never seen anyone support it and provide back up. Forgive me for being skeptical and requesting some supporting evidence for a claim. Hopefully, you can understand my perspective on this.
I would have thought it went without saying -- obviously not --- that I DID look into it myself but I never actually found any evidence that I trusted that supported the claim. Hence, why I asked. Cool?

Back in the 90's, digital multi-track recorders were generally 8-track. To get more than 8-tracks, you had to connect several recorders which would then sync with each other. The main recorder was called a master and the others were called slaves.
So let's say that Pearl Jam had 3 digital recorders at the soundboard taking up space...1 master and 2 slaves.
In order to capture a full show, they would need 6 recorders total, and they would need a two-way splitter to send all the identical feeds to two different sets of recorders.
This was clearly too much trouble for PJ, or just about any other band, until they finally got a mobile truck with staggered recorders.
Hence, almost everything professionally recorded before 2000 is in fragementary form.

Fascinating. That makes sense, though. I appreciate the response. Thank you.

I was just joking. I have no idea what's really happening, I just didn't want you and spenno to fight. Sorry
