Around The Bend (Benaroya 2003-10-22) vs. Johnny Guitar (Hartford 2010-05-15)

this is a slightly cacophonus version of Around the Bend (like it got the speed of sound treatment), and they never seem to quite find their footing musically, but Eddie sounds lovely

I'm a bigger fan of Johnny Guitar normally, but that performance didn't fully capture what makes that song fun and interesting, and that was a really great vocal performance in Around the Bend. It gets my vote

It's a shame that one of the Jack versions of "Around the Bend" doesn't circulate in better sound quality, because those are the definitive live versions of the song. I don't make much time for audience recordings anymore but I'll always have a few minutes in my day to hear "ATB" from Barcelona '96 or Maui '98.

Still, I'll take the Benaroya version over this "Johnny Guitar."

Ill go with Johnny. Its a song i wish they played more often, there is great guitar work and they are having fun. Around The Bend...not a favorite. Its a nice lullaby but thats about it.

Sometimes I forget how bad the '10 bootlegs sound.

Johnny Guitar is the most underrated PJ song since the Gone demo.
