Not someone who gets mentioned around these parts very often--former frontman for The Jam and The Style Council, currently 20 years deep into a a remarkable solo career--a great mix of English rock, jazzy acoustic balladry, and '70's soul. He has some of the worst hair in the business, but this thread is my tribute to him.

Definitely. I think "Wild Wood," "Stanley Road," and "Wake Up the Nation" are his three best solo albums.

Never gotten much into The Jam, but in my fiancee's Jeep her iPod system goes to the first song by alphabetical order whenever whichever album you're listening to ends or sometimes randomly when you leave your iPod hooked up and turn the vehicle off and then back on. So I always hear A-Bomb in Wardour Street come on when I'm hoping the Jeep saved our current song location, and I hate the opening of the song now passionately.

Massive fan. He also plays the solo on Oasis' Champagne Supernova.

always liked The Jam (see my username) - good, tight, british pop

Style Council wasn't half bad either.
