Open thread to discuss what we think about Disney merges, SW, Marvel, Neftlix, Apple and Amazon making movies, war of the streaming services...is that actually good for the art itself?
I think it might be cool if we talk about it here instead of the actual threads of the movies, because it might get tiresome for those who love these franchises.

I think anyone should be able to make a SW or marvel movie.

The only argument I can see is that Amazon and Netflix are funding some cool movies that might not have been made otherwise. But big picture: all this shit is bad.

They may have been made 10-15 years ago, but certainly not today.

I will say I think the growing Disney monopoly is bad for art on a very different, much worse level than Netflix or Amazon.

I might see the new Zac Efron movie about Bundy, and i was thinking how weird is that the premiere is on Netflix.
The movie was produced outside its system and got bought by Netflix on Sundance, so in the past this movie could become a hit in theatres maybe? It would be seen in a different light?

People who are still hung up on that will get over it in time.

Yeah I don’t care about stuff like this at all. Getting a theatrical release isn’t important.

I'm on the fence about intellectual property rights.

Who are you, Michael Scott? You can't just walk into a room and say something and make it so.

How cool would it be to have like 5 different SW movies released simultaneously with completely different visions, directors, ratings, themes, etc, ...

Tarantino needs to direct a movie from every big time property .. anyway, with AI, this will be possible... Anything you can imagine
