One of my favourite bands of all time. These righteous dudes are touring down here in a few months playing their debut LP in its entirety, I can't wait.

Excellent!

If you want to explore further, Mezcal Head (their second album) is pretty much perfect.

I missed their Boston show 4-5 years ago, I need to fix that if they come back. I want to hear them riffs up in my grill.

I have the reissues of the first 2 albums, both excellent. Need to pick up the other albums sometime.

They're planning on having a new record out before the end of the year, or so I've heard.

The layered guitars in Duel's pre-chorus are so fucking cool.

Swervedriver announce reunion album, I Wasn’t Born to Lose You, stream “Setting Sun”

Reunited shoegaze outfit Swervedriver has announced its first new album in 17 years: I Wasn’t Born to Lose You will arrive on March 3rd via Cobraside. The band’s fifth album to date, it serves as the follow-up to 1998’s 99th Dream.

In addition to the 2013 single “Deep Wound”, the album features “Setting Sun”, which is now available for streaming. Starting light and breezy, the track slowly adds in layers of heavy percussion and dissonant guitars, resulting in an intriguing dichotomy between the gleefully upbeat and the utterly morose. Take a listen below.

I like the single.

I dont know why they keep getting lumped into the whole shoegaze thing ( not referring to this article though) when they were clearly anything but.

Can't say that I really know anything about these guys, but that new song is really quite pretty.

I think it's largely because they came to prominence in the UK scene around the same time as bands like Ride and Slowdive, played shows with bands from that scene and were signed to Creation (as were Slowdive, Ride, MBV, etc.) They certainly drew on heavier American guitar band influences than many of those bands, however.

I legitimately thought they were Aussies. I thought the singer sounded like an Aussie.

Fuck my life.

It wasn't.

The new drummer's the issue, as is so very often the case for me.

New drummer = essentially, new band.

Anyway, I'm on something of a (90s period) SWD kick currently.
