This is a thread to share your opinions that are outlandish, likely unpopular, yet you still believe are right. There can be room for discussion a little debate here, but my intent with this thread is for it to be more lighthearted than the heavier stuff we discuss elsewhere in this forum. I'll get this started with server work I had to finish up this morning that inspired this due from being pissed off.
Hot take: time zones should be abolished. Matt Yglesias made the case for this five years ago here.

Dumb because the problem it "solves" isn't much of a problem. People that need to collaborate between time zones routinely do it.
Also, for the majority of the people in the world who work during daylight hours, there would be a shift in what day it is in the middle of their "day". It would get confusing whether something happened on Monday or Tuesday.

Hot take: Massachusetts should do away with changing the clocks twice a year and instead shift to AST (GMT -4) year round.

Everyone should do away with changing the clocks.

I was consistently shocked when I started working on the phone how many people don't know what time zone they are in.
"Can I ask what time zone you're in?"
"Well, it's 10:00AM here, does that help?"

Sorry, we are talking about, at least, a national population that can't handle a base ten measuring system and you're suggesting that everyone needs to get on board with a global clock?

About 75% of the time. The other 25%, they got their time wrong.

Mickey gets it.
