I'm a big fan of "filler" or "throwaway" tracks on albums, but the discussion around the new Tool album and the continuing discussion of the filler tracks on Vitalogy make it pretty clear that these songs aren't for everyone. I imagine Bowie's Berlin trilogy would have been greeted with the same kind of polarization if online discussion had been a thing in the 70s.
To the haters, I ask you to be honest with yourself and list some filler songs that, objectively, do not suck.

Assuming I'm reading your definition of "filler" correctly: STP's "Press Play" and "Daisy" are a couple of my favorites.
I've always liked the gospel choir singing "I'll Fly Away" on Kanye's first album.

Yes, those definitely qualify for the discussion, and I almost posted them as well. Daisy, especially, cracks me up when people complain about "filler" songs on Tiny Music. It's a fully-formed instrumental, and a beautiful one at that.

Nothing on Vitalogy sucks. "Pry To" and "Aye Davanita" are both sublime.

Also Fitter/Happier on OK Computer is great.

Here's a good one: A Warm Place
This little piece is among my favorite moments on The Downward Spiral, and it absolutely stands out on its own as an ambient track. It's probably the most heartbreaking moment on the album, in context. It's that last moment of humanity and tranquility before the run that violently concludes TDS. I suspect that filler tracks on concept albums don't really bother music fans in general, though, so this one might not merit much discussion within this thread.

Agreed. I always wished the DeLeo brothers would have explored this side of their musical personality more. I'd have loved for them to have done a side project like this, during one of the many years that STP was idle.

A DeLeo Brothers solo album in 2020 or 2021 would be a welcome release.

Oh yeah, and "The Larry Routine."
When that album came out, my boss at work was a crotchety old guy named Larry so this song took on special significance for me and my coworkers.
