Timeless Music

Post by daft twat »

100 or 200 years from now, no one will know pearl jam. Or Radiohead. Or fucking U2. They’re going to know Bon Jovi, though. And GnR. Because Living on a Prayer and Welcome to the Jungle are as timeless as Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas. Anything else from our lifetime that will endure?

Beat It, Thriller, Enter Sandman, Friends in Low Places.

Maybe a few Madonna and Prince songs.

I disagree though I will say that it’s not as many Pearl Jam songs as one would hope. I do think Alive, Black, Better Man, Small Town, Yellow Ledbetter, and Last Kiss are likely to be songs 100 years from now some teenager will know in their DNA, and I’ll only hope it spurs them to dig deeper.

Very few will. You love music but how much delving into music have you done from even 60 years ago, let lone 100. I've dug into a handful of blues guys, Little Richards, Elvis and that's about it. Make me listen to Cliff Richards and I may have to throttle you.
I am taking a very slow tour of jazz. A greatest hits tour of classical.

some Brian Eno song. because people will need the calm, near quiet, introspective music to drown their overstimulated senses after being pushed to the edge all day long.
