I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I read the book. Started so strong then it gets lost once that character from those books appear.

The series look good tough and Ben Mendelsohn and Bateman are very good cast choices.

When I first saw the trailer for this, I was intrigued...up until the point I saw it was a Stephen King adaptation. Drag me all you want, but I'm just not a fan in general of King's brand of horror/monsters/the supernatural (The Shining notwithstanding). I've read just a tiny bit of his work (short stories) and have a general familiarity with some other adaptations, and while I don't ever have a visceral "Ugh!" reaction to them, I just don't care.

That being said, I will probably watch this.

I think this looks great. I have not read the book yet. I think Jason Bateman is entering into the most perfect phase of his career as a director. I think he's about to really level up in a profound way.

Holly is here. And the book is at its worst with her.

Looks promising. I'm hoping it lives up to the cast.

yeah, not really. I havent read that trilogy but Holly comes as a very boring character in this one. King loves her and makes her basically the smartest being in the whole world. It dragged the cool premise into a very bland, boring last half.

Because of Holly?

The first half is intense and scary.

I've been interested in the book since it dropped. I've been meaning to read it before the show starts but I've had too much else on deck and it kept getting pushed back. Now that I know there's some cross-over (I love when King does that shit) I'm bumping it to the front of the list again.

Some of the shots in this pilot are very interesting in a "show, don't tell" sort of way. The opening scene and some scenes with that kid's mom, particularly. I'd describe them as voyeuristic, I guess. You see the action from afar and you dont need any words or even facial expressions.

Also, this line fucking haunted me:
Spoiler: show
"It looks like bite marks."
"Bite marks? From an animal?"
"No."
