Does Eddie Vedder actually know what an analogy is?

Are we sure Eddie understands the concept of an analogy? Did he fail his SATs?
Do these actually mean anything at all?

also this works as an analogy, although not an obvious one. the relationship is about how the first word in the pair informs the nature of the second
