First of all, I know this title will elicit some interesting responses. Yo Momma last night is not a valid answer.

With that said, let's reflect on what makes a good screamer and who really rattles your bones. Im splitting into two categories here: metal and non metal.

Metal death growl awards clearly go to Jon Tardy of Obituary and Chuck Schuldiner of Death really harness the raw power a scream gives to rock

Lenny Kilmeister is a god when it comes to a scream.

Non-metal I think you have to be looking at Roger Daltrey and Mike Patton, who could fall under metal in some instances.

Let your immature responses ensue. And some real ones too.

Top of my head I'd say Mike Akerfeldt (Opeth) and John Bush (Anthrax).

Mick Jagger has a great scream during Sway. And the dude from Candlebox had a nice controlled scream. But Cornell takes it.

My glaring omission. Apologies. I considered Cornell more of a wailer, but really didn't think about his amazing range from clean vocals, to wailing, to raspy growl. I agree with you fully.

Ahhh, I'd say his momma is a squealer. Really shrill.

But his father was screaming like mad. Really fucking angry like

Might not fit in with some of the other responses but Jeff Buckley. Pitch perfect. Guy was a fucking powerhouse....

Personally, I've always enjoy Trent Reznor's screaming. In fact, just as I was clicking on this thread, "Burn" came on in iTunes. This has one of my favorite examples of his scream, right around the 3:33 mark, and then at 3:38 it goes into this spectacular high pitch.

Mark arm, and in particular "if I think" followed by one of the sweetest musical shifts ever, but that scream.. Wow.

Song is so good, bon jovi ripped it off for blaze of glory, the guitar riff and tone anyway.

Maynard...the scream he pulls off in The Grudge is just the fucking sickest thing I've ever heard

Daltrey...for quintessential all time rock scream I don't think it gets better than Won't Get Fool Again

Love the Fogerty mention...I think my favorite from him is when Long As I Can See the Light is winding down

Not sure if you can classify it as a scream but Plant's big spot in Kashmir is pretty epic.
