Senate Bill 307 protects men by requiring the following prior to receiving a prescription to treatment for erectile dysfunction:

- a signed affadavit from at least one sex partner confirming the man has indeed experienced the symptoms of impotence in the past 90 days
- a psychological screening to ensure the condition is, in fact, medical in nature
- ongoing cardiac stress tests and outpatient counseling about potential side effects
- information from the prescribing physician about risks, complications as well as non-medical options including counseling and celibacy
- copy of medical rationale for treatment filed in patient’s medical record

When a man makes a crucial decision about his health and his body, he should be fully aware of the alternative options and the lifetime repercussions of that decision,” Senator Turner said today. Men will be more easily guided through the process of obtaining treatment for impotence so they can better understand and more effectively address their condition.

it was my first reaction to the ridiculous correlation of the 'abortion rights community' (whatever that is) to the NRA - it's not even vaguely accurate.
the NRA has most of the republican party in its hip pocket for one thing (think election 'donations' and gifts from lobbyists) - and while a good portion of the democratic party (I think, although whatever) probably supports the idea that a woman's body and what gets done to it isn't the government's business, not to mention the obstruction of safe and clean medical treatment for women who opt to get an abortion is downright despicable...
I'd hardly put anyone who is pro-choice (not pro-abortion, btw, just to make the distinction) in the same arena as the NRA.
it's a deliberate inflammatory statement meant to elicit a response and I'm all about giving people what they want.

and since I'm on the subject and posting about it, I'd like to put forth a question to anyone interested in responding - what the hell has happened over the last couple decades, anyway?

at what point did the idea that it's ok to disparage women or people who are of the above stated opinion about women and our legal ability to choose when and how and why they have children become acceptable again?

- after so much shit and strife had to occur for what amounts to thousands of years of women either dealing with unwanted pregnancies, or unsafe methods (eg - hangers, anyone?) for ending an unwanted pregnancy; after establishing the legality of abortion - how in the world is it now possible that the country is moving backwards again towards making abortions illegal?

truly, I'm baffled by this, and disappointed (at the very least) - I'm also, sorry to say, worried. how does this bode for young women today and into the future?

I wish you wouldn't. although I admit, I don't know what point it would make. something about if it looks like a human baby it's a crime against god to forcibly remove it from a womb?
if so, I can only renew my stance that termination of a pregnancy is a moral judgement that an individual woman has to make, not a legal one that the government gets to make...

Until you see the bill Kasich is about to sign into law that rivals what Texas is trying to do.

What bothers me about this issue is the fact that these guys don't want to support funding for contraception or sex education either. You'd think that would help reduce abortions more than passing a law that has a good chance of leading to more children in poverty that the state has to pay for. You know, the ones they're always complaining about.

They don't care about "protecting the unborn", they just want to control women.
