UPDATE:
I chose Track 6 and will explain why below. Maybe you’ll be compelled to explain your choice.
JEREMY – This song is iconic for good reason. My appreciation for it rose to a whole new level after watching this video; It’s much more complex than I ever realized, and that it was accomplished by a bunch of guys in their early-to-mid 20’s makes it even more impressive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usRmxyGruWI
WMA – Every song on Vs. is a good song, can’t go wrong with any of them.
WHIPPING – The “angry rocker” of the bunch, love the energy of this song.
OFF HE GOES – Just a beautiful song.
PILATE – As I’ve posted about here before, this “weird” song typifies the point at which casual PJ fans jumped ship, and the dedicated fans decided to remain on board. The first three albums are undeniably great, and then No Code was kinda weird … fans could give it a pass for being kinda weird … and then when Yield came out, and it wasn’t a recreation of Ten, lots of people bailed. I specifically remember playing this song on a road trip to a high school basketball game and most of the guys on my team hated it, which made me love it that much more.
THIN AIR – An even more beautiful song, and perhaps my favorite among the Track 6’s in the catalog. However there’s another one gaining traction…
I AM MINE – I love the message in this song.
PARACHUTES – The only PJ song Mrs. Bam let me play at our wedding.
AMONGST THE WAVES – Welp. They can’t all be chart-toppers. The only questionable inclusion on this list.
INFALLIBLE – I like this song, OK?
SEVEN O’CLOCK – Absolutely love this song, and it pushed the Track 6’s over the edge for me. Could end up being my favorite of the bunch.
UPPER HAND - Jimi Hendrix come back from the dead.
This group of songs makes for a complete album … I don’t know what order you put them in, but it has the Anthem, the Angry Rocker, the Cheesy Ed Tune, the Internal Struggle Ed Tune, the Inspirational Message Song, the off-kilter weird experiment but not just filler noise, a couple of really pretty ballads, the political protest songs … PJ in a nutshell.
