Hard to believe Pearl Jam has been around and playing live for 30 years today.

Dave A joined the band in August 1991, he was fired in August 1994, almost to the day three years later. He has now been in the band less than 1/10th of their existence.

This really is remarkable. Granted I am in the midst of that journey, but they’ve played together now as long as the Grateful Dead did. That’s remarkable for me because I still sort of mentally have this dividing line of everything before Pearl Jam sort of being classic or past and everything since as contemporary- clearly I am out of relevance in terms of new music...but all the same my own line of what’s old and what’s new is about the same amount of time in terms of rock music.
I’ve been a fan since ‘93, and it’s amazing to see how it all moved and shifted over the years - a band adjusting from being the flashpoint of popular culture to cultivating a loyal audience and then moving into legacy territory and now possibly entering a new phase with Gigaton in their openness to allowing the producer some creative license

Crazy to think that the band has existed 30 years. And 30 years before them, the Beatles formed (1960).

And 30 years before them, the Dagenham Girl Pipers formed (1930).

Pearl Jam took everything good about The Beatles and made it even better. Pearl Jam's impact and influence dwarfs that of the Beatles, who couldn't even stick together for a decade. It's frankly an insult to mention them in the same sentence as PJ.

30 years isn't as long as it used to be.
Amazing to think of all the bands that exploded in the early 90s I fell for the one that never broke up.
Vs just had it's 27th anniversary too.

Which member/s of the band could die and they'd still carry on? Matt?
In a weird way I could imagine an iteration of the band continuing if Ed died.

If Boom died, I'm not even sure the band's official social media accounts would post anything.
