Thanks for caring dickweed.

I guess this new improved version isn't nearly as wanted or appreciated as the original one was back in 2016.

That's fine. I'll keep this in mind in the future.

Yes, same -- lest my post failed to convey my thanks, your work is always appreciated. I haven't really gotten fully into "Christmas mode" yet this year (probably because all the local family stuff we usually do between Thanksgiving and Christmas was cancelled!), but when the tree goes up next weekend this mix will soundtrack it!

tragabigzanda wrote:Sorry if my comment came off as unappreciative. I haven't listened to the mix yet, but have just downloaded it and will spin it while decorating with my wife and kids. I was griping about The Drifters song (my hands-down favorite Xmas track) mostly because I had *just* had a text exchange with some RMers about that track before you posted your mix.
That's alright dude. I'm sorry for not including the Drifters song. I might have if it had been submitted by someone for inclusion, which was kind of why I did the upgrade - to improve the track selection (and the sound on a few tracks). But I didn't make a post about it here, so it's my fault.

I removed "Snoopy Vs. Red Baron" which is a classic that I hold dear, but over time I found it too depressing to include in the mix. I also considered adding "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)", but again, semi-depressing. I tried to avoid that kind of shit and make it a little happier.

I also used stereo versions of the two Phil Spector songs this time because I was able to achieve transfers/masters that I felt were good enough (before I had used the mono masters which are far easiest to find).

Good calls. The happier tone definitely added to my enjoyment. (Particularly with the year we're having!)

I love Snoopy vs the Red Barron. I remember my brother had an ep back in the day with 4 Snoopy tunes on there. Happy times.

Yeah, the tone of this comp is happy - but a "serious" happy - no goofy shit like Chipmunks or little brats singing out of key or dumb intros where people are speaking to each other - and of course no depressing or "modern" stuff either. It's pretty classy.

Though I have to admit that David Bowie and Bing Crosby singing together brings a tear to my eye like nothing else on this comp. I always found it moving, but especially now.
