FYI - Among Us was not released in 2020.

Oh man. I plan to post my Top 5 later this year. A really great year for games.

I didn't play any of these. Which ones are on Switch?

Animal Crossing, Super Mario, Immortals

I felt that The Last of Us 2 was the best game that I played in 2020 - an excellent linear game that featured some of the best storytelling ever. It featured very mature themes, some say to a fault. For once, enjoyed my time listening to Future Days too.

Currently, I'm enjoying my time playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising more than my time with any other game this year. A Zelda clone, sure, but a great clone of what many, myself included, consider to be the greatest game of all time in BotW.

My vote goes to Animal Crossing. A life simulator that was released just as real life went to hell. Can't socialize with real friends - you can socialize with your islanders. Can't goto work - work on your island. Fishing, collecting insects and digging up fossils was the most structured activity in my life for a while. No wonder this became the #1 selling Switch game in just a few months - this life simulator was more enjoyable than just about everyone's real life. A much needed escape for sure.

I agree hands down with all the praise of The Last of Us II, especially the part about Future Days. It's my #1 this year for sure that I still regret spoiling for myself.

I haven't played Cyberpunk yet, and although it's release controversies were inexcusable, I still think there's probably a great/decent game wrapped up in a pile of unfinished shit. I'm holding out for the next gen version of that game to experience for the first time.

I cannot in good conscience vote, but I do know Demon's Souls is a truly jaw-dropping next-gen experience, which none of the other games are, unless Tsushima is as pretty as they say. Edit: Whoops, I meant to say, because I have only played a couple of the games on the list, ...
