I didn't know this was a thing until I got frustrated and searched the internet. It's such a weird phenomenon and it's everywhere these days.
This poor girl doesn't even know what she's doing, but it's a perfect example:

I hate this style. There is a commercial, can't remember what for, but the song playing in it has a girl singing "hush, hush baby" but it sounds like "housh housh"
I've been trying to figure out if Dave Matthews has Indie Girl Voice..

Yeah man I didn't even know what this was but felt something was off for a long time now and had to google it.. I think I liked this style a lot for a while but once I caught on that it was more like a widespread virus I had to shun it. It's terrible and needs to stop. It's like vocal fry and Valley Girl.

In a way, nobody's voice is truly original. But there's a point where you can clearly say, "Oh, OK, you're doing THAT voice..." yawn
