Tonight You Belong to Me is a sweet little song on Ukelee songs, and I enjoy it when I hear it, but it's not something I've ever sought out. And I really like Sirens. Its over the top schmaltz still manages to ring sincere, and I kind of love that after 10 albums they made space in their catalog for a song like this. Eddie's performance is really good, and even if the solo doesn't quite work, the outro is also pretty lovely.

I think the worst part of sirens is the beginning. Once you get past that, it's a pretty good song

Near the end of my therapy today my therapist wanted me to do some writing. She prompted me to bust out some paper and a pen and then she said...

And i fucking bawled.

Hate Sirens. I’ve loved Tonight since The Jerk and, similar to Stip’s experiences, I used to sing this to my kids at bedtime.

Enough about me.

But songs like this really hit me these days. I get it. I get being old, happy, and finding love and celebrating that.

Sirens for sure. I don't think I have a grasp on how that one's aging for me, but I used to love it. All the schmaltz-endorsing comments feel pretty spot on for me, too. It's an easy winner for me here.

Tonight You Belong To Me, besides being a great song in its own right, is something that really captured what I think I'd hoped Eddie's uke record was going to be when I first heard about it, compared to what it ended up being (I think this is the only track that is a holdover from his original 2002 record with these songs, which makes me very curious to hear that version). There's a tentativeness and atmosphere to this track lacking in much of the rest of the record. Sirens has never been a song I liked, but I'd vote for it over quite a few Uke Song tracks, but not this one.

I couldn't even tell you what Tonight You Belong to Me sounds like, but I'm still voting for it over the shite that is Sirens.

Sirens is wonderful, a classic for me.

Tonight You Belong to Me was the first dance song at my wedding. I actually like Sirens for what it is, but Tonight has a special place for me.
