You am I

After seeing these guys on their latest tour, celebrating the timeless classics that are Hi Fi way and Hourly daily, I feel it's my duty to get at least 5 new fans of this amazing band.

They were phenomenal last night, and I implore anyone who reads this thread to get their mits on these albums pronto.

Their other albums are pretty solid too, but these two in particular need to not be known just to Australians, who recognise their brilliance, but be heard by plenty of others.

Hi fi way highlights are the impeccable pop of purple sneakers and how much is enough. The crunch and crispness of jewels and bullets and cathys clown.

Hourly daily has the rare beauty and fragility of please don't ask me to smile, top notch rave ups of mr milk, if we can't get it together and soldiers. But this is a fantastic listen top to bottom.

So c'mon gents, discover this band, and be fucking glad you did. The people who know em, adore em, and for the best reason, they deserve it.

I tired to get into the record they did with Lee at Pachyderm, but I don't know, it didn't do much for me. Maybe it was a half assed attempted on my part, but yeah I did get the kinks, big star vibe. Jury is still out.

Hi Fi Way will never leave my top ten albums. If the term "timeless" can be used in a rock n roll context then this record is it.

The record they did with Lee at Pachyderm is not their finest work by a long shot. The next one the did with Lee Renaldo at Greene St Studios in New York is WAAAAAAY better. It's called Hi Fi Way. Then you want to check out Hourly, Daily when they went heavy on the Kinksisms and Number 4 Record which for me was closer to Can't Hardly Wait era The Replacements with some Big Star and maybe so 60's beat thrown in.

That first record you are referring to, Sound As Ever, is still very much rooted in that early 90's alternative rock sound mainly because of the original drummer.

While I'm on a roll, here's a mish-mash playlist with live and video clips for Hi Fi Way.

A mate saw the Enmore Friday show and loved it. He's prob seen them 20-odd times. I'm still unsure if I'll catch this tour. I don't love them but they are a good band (seen em at least 10 times).

5 new fans yet?

But thread is as I expected, Aussies saying how awesome they are and that's about it.

Snc - sound as ever isn't a good place to start, go straight to the classics. Hi fi way will have you converted. Promise.

I think maybe some international folks need to see them live to get it.

This is one of my favourite You Am I tunes. Plus Rusty is nailing it on the drums. This is around the time that Noel Gallagher said Rusty was the best drummer in the world. It's quite clearly true.

Working on the next ashes test so will probably miss this. Although a free ticket just came into the equation. Hmmm what to do?

I'd go see them. This tour isn't just your regular old tour.

The new vinyl reissues sound ridiculously great.. I Le it when a band takes the time to master the old tapes especially for wax...

Anyways.. 5 new fans was the aim, I fear we have fallen short!

SNC seemed most likely.. Had a chance to give hi fi way a spin yet my man?

Hi Fi Way means more to me than any Pearl Jam record.
