I thought I'd start this since there's no power at work and I have nothing to do.

I gave each pick for each team a score of 1-10. MD got 72, CHUD 63, CT 62. MD and CHUD get my votes this round.

I remember the first, top-down GTA fondly, but I've never fully got along with another one because I inevitably run up against some must-win mission that I keep failing at and so bail.

Metroidvania and Dark Souls-esque are two genres that have never appealed to me either.

Super Smash Bros. is not the best Nintendo franchise, but a lot of fun.

I have fond memories of drunken games of FIFA after university parties, though sports games don't really appeal to me.

I was massively into Morrowind, but other Elder Scrolls games are just too big to be interestingly authored.

Was surprised it took so long for somebody to select an Xbox controller.

Mario Kart is a great Nintendo pick - I feel like I have a memory of each iteration of the game. We even had Mario Kart 8 at our wedding.

I was a Sega kid - not sure the SNES ever took off in South Africa - I certainly never heard of it till years later.

I like the Switch, but the Pro Controller is inferior to both Dualshock and Xbox.

Mortal Kombat is a fun, timely pick, and probably the "coolest" fighting game to have early on.

Civ is too involved for me, but a very good pick.

Doom > Wolfenstein easily (Doom 2016 is fantastic). Picking both is one of Chud's few big mistakes, I think.

Commander Keen is a solid nostalgia pick.

Halo also featured heavily during university, Uncharted is the closest gaming's got to being an interactive blockbuster, Ratchet & Clank was one of my favourite PS2 games, but I'd rank the PS higher.

The rest of the list I've either never gotten into or don't care for.

Why I drafted my team:

Console: PlayStation 2 was a legendary console with more (physical) games than any other.

Controller: WaveBird was the first great wireless controller plus it featured the greatness of the GameCube controller layout too.

Accessory: Super GameBoy allowed you to play the entire library of the GameBoy on your TV. An accessory that you could actually get your money's worth out of. How rare.

Franchise: Metal Gear was one of the few franchises without a core-entry dud. Some very original ideas that were never tried before or after - codes on the box art, needing to switch controller ports, reading your Memory Card. Little things that are still memorable all these years later. MGS1 is one of the best, if not the best, PSX game. MGS2 is one of the best, if not the best, PS2 game too. [Random CopperTom Opinion: MGS2 features one of the strangest easter eggs ever - getting Snake to jerk-off] Halo is my 2nd favorite franchise, behind only Zelda. The best single-player FPS franchise by far. I played thousands of (local) multiplayer matchups. Halo is the best XBOX game and Halo 3 is the best 360 game. Period. Uncharted is the most polished franchise there is. It's a playable big-budget movie. I wish you could backtrack and explore, but it's balls-to-the-wall action at it's best. Mass Effect is action RPG at its finest. Great(est?) trilogy. Your decisions actually matter. If you don't believe me, ask LV. Fire Emblem is top-notch grid-based strategy. Too bad I'm the only RMer to play these. Ratchet & Clank is a great 3rd person shooter with a wide range of silly and unique weapons. I've played nearly every one. Paper Mario is Nintendo's only (J)RPG franchise. The games have a sense of humor and good stories.
