new song: Out of Sand

Post by stip »

Lyrics:
Spoiler: show
Can’t climb to heaven on the cross
One liar’s promise drained the blood from my heart
Came a message in the dark
Offered the hand of a disembodied man
While I still had the chance …

But now it is gone, gone
And I am who I am
Who I was I will never be again
Running out of sand

I stare at my reflection to the bone
Blurred eyes look back at me … full of blame and sympathy
So, so close
Right roads not take, futures forsaken …
Dropped like a fossil or stone …

But now it is gone, gone
And I am who I am
Who I was that will never come again
Running out of sand

Mmmmm …

A drunk octopus wants to fight
Fearfull of dreams . there’ll be no sleep tonight
Fine at dinner, dead by dessert
Victim or witness, we’re gonna get hurt
Fragile existence with echoes of worth
I can’t stop the bleeding nor the tears from thine eyes
There’s another us somewhere with much better lives
With God as our witness but he won’t testify …

Oh now it’s gone … gone …
And I am, who I am …

Who I could’ve been I’ll never have the chance
Running out of sand
Running out of sand
Running out of sand …

Yeah, but i hope we can get another recording. I get the cool side of a quick recording in that place, but i feel this song deserves another treatment for its studio version.

And if its with PJ better.

The studio version will be drenched in strings made of cheese.

Sounds nice. The faux old timey thing could be annoying, but it's done well.

I really like it. I think I'd be down for a whole album sounding like that.

This is good. It reminds me of MotH in a way.

Lyrics added to OP.

He sang the last verse differently then what is written in the book.

Written: Who I could've been, I'll never have the chance.
Sung: Who I was, I'll never have the chance.

Ed does forlorn well and the recording really adds to it. This feels like Chris McCandless lived and has regrets. Into the Wild 2: Acoustic Boogaloo.

This is a really nice tune. My fear is what'll happen when BOB eventually adds his sheen to it.

Other than the crappy bridge and crappy old timey radio jank, I really like this.

I like the old-timey take on it. The song's nice enough, but I have to admit Ed's strummy strummy folk songs tend to blend together to me. I feel like his finger picked stuff (Man of the Hour, The End) usually has a bit more life and interesting parts to them.
